BB 9800 Torch Beta feedback - Farid - 01-04-2011 08:58 AM

by Farid:

We'd like to thank all of our Torch Beta testers for providing valuable feedback to the development team. Here is some of the results kindly posted by huotg01. Thanks. We will be working on these issues and will reply.

1.
Difficult to complete the setup form, mainly because of the password field. After many fails to register, I just went to my email application, wrote down my password, copied it, and pasted it to the pw field. I was then ok to register. For your information, the first character of my pw is a capital letter.

2.
...also, first test: when calling my office number, and going to my voicemail, I hear the rings, I hear the first word of my welcome message, and then I have a complete silence.
Any set-up to refine ?

3.
Another observation: when calling "home" (home is connected to my VOIP provider, therefore no POTS), and when going to my voice mail, I got at the beginning of the message, about at the same place and same timing mentioned previously I got the same "break", but it kept going after that "hesitation".

4.
When calling another phone, I don't hear the other party. He does hear me. I also noticed that it takes about 45 sec to establish the communication.

PS (by Ivo):
Traces sent by houtg01 with trace ID 76056 on Jan 3, complaining he cannot register.
Hopefully, from the comment above, registration problem (wrong password) resolved.

Farid

I don't think I can make any more tests until some fixes are published. Should I expect something soon ? (or do you have any specific requests ?)

Hi
I have started using the fgVoip app on my blackberry torch.
Couple of quick things to report.
1) there is 1-2 second gap of voice transmission on both sides during the call
2) Calls do not go through if dialed from the contact list e.g. If I have a phone number saved as work number in my contact list and I hit green button on it, the fgVoip app tries to call "W +1XXXXXXXXXX". Call gets disconnected immediately. The same number could be called if dialed directly in fgVoip app.

Thanks,
Waheed.

@Farid

did you receive my traces?

I found another problem. The fgvoip sometimes crashing down with the message:

Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException

If somebody calls me, and I'll hang up with the red Button and than pressing the trackpad, than it crashs with the error message

Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException

2 issues...

Other then seeing some instability in maintaining/creating a connection("fgVoIP ready") im i have seen this issue.

1. Battery icon doesn't update until you close and open a new instance of the app. (i plugged it into charge and the phone fully charged but the app told me it was still at 10% until the next time i ran the fgVoIP.

2. If someone is to hasty and at the beginning of a call presses speaker too soon before the connection the app doesn't play via the speaker how ever the icons show you are in speaker mode. Pressing the speaker/handset button again toggles to mode but the icons are still in the wrong state.

2.1. Would be nice if the app remembered my speaker setting volume, i keep having to crank it up every time.

Hope this helps.. Ill be looking for more bugs.

Thanks to all for the reported issues. We are trying catch up and fix as many as we can.

Once we have a new version for testing we would as you if you would like to continue testing.

We don't know when that is (couple of days at least).

Thanks again
Robert

Other feedback.

I am trying to use this app with our inhouse Asterisk server to no avail.

I cannot change the setup information, the moment I exit the app the information reverts back to the default.

I had installed the previous beta previously (on my Torch even though it was not supported) just to see, I wonder if that is related.

I have done numerous battery pulls, no change. Feel free to let me know if I need to manually delete something specific to retry.
